Desktop
A desktop is a computer display area that represents the kinds of objects one might find on top of a physical desk, including documents, phone books, telephones, reference sources, writing and drawing tools, and project folders.
A desktop can be contained in a window that is part of the total display area or can be full screen, taking up the total display area. Users can have multiple desktops for different projects or work environments they have and can switch between them.
Laptop
As of 2022, in the terms laptop computer and notebook computer are used interchangeably; in other dialects of English, one or the other may be preferred. Although the terms notebook computers or notebooks originally referred to a specific size of laptop (originally smaller and lighter than mainstream laptops of the time) the terms have come to mean the same thing and notebook no longer refers to any specific size.
Server
Client–server systems are usually most frequently implemented by (and often identified with) the model: a client sends a request to the server, which performs some action and sends a response back to the client, typically with a result or acknowledgment. Designating a computer as “server-class hardware” implies that it is specialized for running servers on it. This often implies that it is more powerful and reliable than standard , but alternatively, large may be composed of many relatively simple, replaceable server components.
